The Bedford Park area is described as the worlds’ first garden suburb and is located in the North East of Chiswick.  24 acres of land, containing many fine trees were purchased by Jonathan Carr in 1875 and together with firstly the architect Edward Godwin and later the acclaimed Richard Norman Shaw, created the beautiful houses within Bedford Park. Much of Bedford Park is now in a conservation area and most of the early buildings are Grade II listed.
